Blackadder Goes Forth
On Thursday 10th, Friday 11th & Saturday 12th of November ’16 Duns Players present Blackadder Goes Forth, by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton by kind permission of Tiger Aspect Productions, our 6th annual Armistice week production.
Ben Foreman has performed in every one of these productions and I asked him what they meant to him, see for yourself.
“I think it is the most incredible thing, the community have always supported the Duns Players in all they do, but when our annual Armistice performance comes around you can’t help, as a performer, swell with a certain pride at seeing the mass of people gathering to view something that usually has taken months to piece together.
However one must not forget that what we perform is but a scant portion of both world wars. We cannot even begin to imagine the brutality of the conflicts that took place during The Great War nor can we grasp the countless amount of lives wasted by it. It is for this reason that I am so passionate about our Armistice performances, because the men woman and children that lost their lives to the First and Second World War and are still losing their lives in pointless conflicts today should never forgotten.”
To date DP have donated £4600 to conflict related charities as the proceeds of these performances, see our Supporting Our Community page for details. This year we have donated to Comic Relief to secure the rights, and aim to donate £500 to the Royal British Legion from ticket sales. We will not manage that without your help.
