We will remember them
Each year since 2011 Duns Players have delivered a one off performance in November with the proceeds going to a forces charity. The success of The Brylcreem Boys, Flare Path and last year’s Forties Night, all of which have recived critical and public approval, have enabled Duns Players to donate almost £4000 to Help for Heroes, The RAF Benevolent Fund and Combat Stress.
This year Duns Players is building on these successes by marking Armistice day on November 9th at 7:30pm in The Volunteer Hall, with a piece entitled:
‘We Will Remember Them’
Performed by Shirley Redpath, Lynn Gray, Ben Foreman, Dougal Affleck and Peter Lerpiniere and under the directorial hands of John McEwen and Eloner Crawford the evening will mark the centenary of the start of the First World War, a war that was supposed to end all wars.
Using selected songs, poems, newspaper reports and witness accounts to try to make human what is to some extent too huge to contemplate ‘The Players’ will weave together the silken threads which tied the rural community of Berwickshire to the events on the world stage.
The evening has a licensed bar and tickets, priced £6.00, are available at the door on the night. This year all proceeds will go to SSAFA The military charity.
